CORRESPONDENCE.

RECRUITS AND VOLUNTEERS.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAB.

Sib, — Re the present native scare, the Government seem to be acting upon the whole in a prompt and satisfactory manner ; but how is it that they decline the services of young and able men here, who are willing to join the A.C. Force, and at the same time bring men from Wellington, Canterbury, and other distant places,? Why not accept those in the district, who profess to be anxious to join?— l am, &c, Manaiaonian.
