Wo have held three sales of general merchandise during the month, at which, f ocls bronght satisfactory prices. At the t .r.bor sale on the sth, tho bidding was 1. x, but it was cniinly owing to the indifferent quality of the timber. The cargo was sola at— rough boards, from 7s 6d to 8s 6d ; scantling, 6s 6d to 7s 6d } F. T. and Q., 10a to 13s.

Land.— There has been brisk inquiry for Opunake sections during the month. We disposed of one allotment fronting the mam road for .£250 ; also a corner section in Manaia for £4,5. There has also been a moderate demand for building sites about Hawora ; no doubt the opening of the rail* way causing that. "We hove sold three lots at good figures. Stock. — At our usual monthly sale, more than the quantity advertised came forward. The attendance was large, but buyers were vory dilatory about bidding. With the exception of one pen of steers, everything was sold at or after the sale. •Cattle— 3Bs head were sold. Breeding cows, L 4 2s 6d; 2 to 2J-year-old heifers, L 3 6b; yearlings, L 2 10s to L 2 17s 6d; •weaners, L 2; store bullocks, L 5 10s ; milch «owß, from L 5 5s to L 9 103 ; Hereford "bull, LB. Horses — Very little inquiry for. Those offered were of a very weedy description, and were slow of sale.
