INTERPROVINCIAL NEWS.

(from our own correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. It is reported in town that the natives are fencing at Pungarehu. At a meeting of the shareholders of the Odd Fellows' Hall Company, it was resolved to increase the capital, and re-erect the hall on an improved principle. At the Land Board meeting yesterday, J. Claridge applied to transfer section 1, block 7, Ngaire, to E. O'Donovau. Aj>plicatioa granted. At the Education Board meeting, a communication was received from the Opunake School Committee, stating that

in consideration of the large increase in the number of children at Opunake, the committee would accept the offer- of the Education Board of ss. per week towards the rent of a schoolroom ; the remaining portion of the rent to he subscribed by residents at Opunake. Tlie committee also requested the Inspector to appoint a teacher for the district. It was resolved, " That a teacher he appsinted for the Opunake School, as recommended by the Inspector, at a salary of i=4o per annum, and the usual capitation allowance," which will be about i>7o, if there are over 60 children.

A large meeting was held at Bell Block, when resolutions were passed condemning the report of the Parliamentary Committee as incorrec^ and contrary to facts. Meetings are being held at Inglewood, Omata, Oakura,' and Okato, 1 at ' which similar resolutions will , be passed. >
