To enable persona to attend the Wafc mate Plains land sale at Hawera on the Ist August, the 7 a.m. train from New Plymouth will run through to Hawera on that date, arriving in Hawera at 11 a.m., leaving Hawera for New Plymouth and Waitara at 8 p.m. Return tickets will be issued at single fares. Middleton's hotel at Opunake had a narrow escape from being burnt • down very enrly this morning. Some imperfection in the chimney allowed the flames to get to the wood-work, and the side of the building was in flames before the inmates were aware of it. Luckily a number of the inmates were up at the time, and put it out, or the place must have been burnt down.
