In the Council to-day, the Banks and Bankers Bill was ordered, on division of 15 to 13, to be re-committed next week, in order to strike out the clauses referring to penalties for defacing bank notes. — Hawke's Bay and Maryborough Rivers Act Amendment Bill, Land Claims. Set- ' tlement Act Bepeal Bill, and Sharebrokers Act Bepeal Bill were read a third time, and passed.
