In respect to the lining of the school-room, it was pointed out that the lining of the end room was much needed, especially if the weather turned cold. The Chairman explained that the timber which had been supplied was too green for immediate use, but he would see whether the work could be proceeded with at once.

A letter was read from Miss Janet Cornfoot, expressing a wish to resign her position as assistant teacher, and to leave at the end of July. The Chairmah stated that he had

spoken to Miss Cornfoot, and she had stated that she would be prepared, if it was necessary, to stay on a little longer thau the time stated, until a successor were appointed. It was resolved that the resignation be received with regret, and that the Chairman communicate with the Board in respect to the appointment of a successor.

Mr. Mair reported that the spouting round the building had been erected ; also, that a complaint had been made that the well was not in good order. However, upon examination, Mr. Mair said that he found there was now a fair supply of water.

The Chairman was empowered to have a new gate made if the one which is at present partly broken should give way. Mr. Hobbs was empowered to make arrangements to have one side of the goise fences round the school grounds trimmed.

Mr. Mair prebented a report of the attendance between 20th April and 10th June, showing that only some ten children had failed to attend the full hah? of the seventy-four times the school had been open. Of these only three lr.d attended less than thirty times. Several of those who appeared on the list were now attending regularly. The average attendance had been about ICO lately, and had occasionally risen up to 169. At present there were not seats for the full number when in attendance.

The Chairman drew attention to the want of a porch, chiefly in order to provide a lavatory for the girls. After discussion, it was resolved to postpone the question until more funds were in hand.

An account was passed for payment to Mr. Saunders, window furniture, 17s. 6d.
