The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, under date, London, April 21, report : — Corn Market. — Little business has been lately done in Australian wheats for forward shipments, the quotations recently cabled from the colonies rendering transactions impossible. Not more than 47s 6d per 4801b c.U. would just now be obtainable for prompt shipments to the United Kingdom, while there are no sellers under 48b. On the spot the market, which had been almost bare of Australian wheat, has, although closing firm, receded under the influence of recent simultaneous arrivals 6d to Is on last quotations. New Zealand parcels are offering for the United Kingdom at 45s c.i.f . April-May shipment. New Zealand oats fully maintain late values, the recent arrivals from the Baltic having been generally of very secondary qualities. Current quotations ex granary are as follow : — South Australian and Victorian wheat, 60s 6d to 51s per 4961b ; New Zealand long-berried, 48s to 51s ; do, ordinary, 468 to 49a; do, inferior, 42s to4ss; Australian flour, 32s 6d to 34s 6d per 280lbs ; New Zealand do. 29s to 325 ; do oats, fine, 27s to 30s per Imperial quarter; do, ordinary, 23a to 265 ; do barley, malting, 80s to 38s per 4481b5 ; do beans; 46s to 48s per 5041b5 ; do oatmeal, 190s to 210s per ton. Tallow. — At the public sales held during the month 3486 packages of Australian and New Zealand have been offered and sold. The demand for all descriptions has been good and values well maintained. Continental buyers have taken the greater portion ; ana as medium and low sorts were in strong request, have had to pay full relative prices for their purchases. The finer descriptions have also changed hands readily. Stock in first hands is at present light, but shipments afloat are heavy. The market closes firm at the following quotations, viz.:— -P.Y.C., new, 39s 3d per cwt.; Australian mutton, fine, 36s to 36s 6d ; do, medium, 34s 6d to 35s 6d; do beef, fine, 33s to 33s 9d ; do, medium, 32s to 32s 9d. The estimated fltook in warehouse is 12,600 casks, of whiob, 1800 are Russian.
