[per united press association.] WELLINGTON, Last Night. Mr. Oliver, Minister of Public Works, yesterday placed bis resignation of portfolio in the Premier's hands, a recent occurrence having rendered it necessary for him reluctantly to sever his connection with tbe Ministry in order to attend to private business. He retains office until his departure 'for Duuedin on Monday. On his arrival at Dunedin he will address bis constituents.
