LONDON, May 5.
The race for the Two Thousand Guineas Stakes was ran yesterday at Newmarket, and won by Peregrine, with Iroquois second, and Donfuland third. In the House of Commons, on Tuesday evening, the Irish Land Bill again came on for consideration on its second reading. In the course of the debate, Lord Elcho, member for Haddingtonshire, on behalf of the Conservatives, made a speech, in which he strongly denounc d the provisions of the Bill, and concluded by moving its rejection as a whole by the House. The Irish Land Bill again came under consideration in the House of Commons last evening. In the course of the debate which took place, Sir Stafford Northcote made a speech, forcibly condemning the measure. " He further took occasion to denounce generally the policy of the Government, which he characterised as decidedly communistic in its tendencies. Mr. Labouchere, M.P. for Northampton, has given notice in the House of Commons, of a motion condemning the proposal to be submitted shortly by the Premier, that funds should be voted for the erection of a "monument to the late Earl Beaconsfield in Westminster Abbey.
It is announced that the Irish members of the Honse of Commons will shortly propose a vote of censure on Mr. Forster, Chief Secretary for Ireland, for his action in connection with the arrest of Mr. John Dillon, M.P. for Tipperary. Information has been received by the Admiralty that a terrible explosion occurred on board the British man-of-war Dotterel, on the 26th April, when off Sandy Point, in the Straits of Magellan, causing the total wreck of the vessel and a great loss of life, only the captain and ten others surviving the disaster. Nothing is known as to the cause of the explosion. Later.
Additional news has reached the Admiralty regarding the disaster to her Majesty's ship Dotterel, ih the Straits of Magellan. It is now known that eight of tho officers and 185 men were killed by the explosion, but nothing has yet been learnt as to the cause of the catastrophe. ATHENS, May 4.
Three Greek Army Corps are being prepareJ to occupy the territory in Thessaly and Epirus, to be ceded by Turkey for the extension of the Greek frontier.
