THE MAORI PARLIAMENT.

(Specially Telegraphed to Star.)

(per united press association.)

AUCKLAND, Last Night.

At the meeting of the Oraki Maori Parliament yesterday, Paul repeated that he thought the doings of Te Whiti must evcutnally do them good. He ended his address by saying that his desire was not to make laws, but rather to bring the grievances of the natives before the House of- Representatives. A proposal was made to send a representative to England, but finally a motion, moved by Mete Kingi, to let the matter rest with the chairman, was carried. A complaint was made by a Waikato chief that the Government had taken his lands, though he had remaiued loyal. The meeting passed a resolution condemning the conduct of the Government in confiscating the lands of loynl natives. The sixth item was in reference to Land Courts. It was resolved that native meetings should first be held, and thet their sales should then be senl to the Native Land Courts. The seventh topic for discussion was in reference to the Maori members. It was unanimously agreed that they did more harm than good, and ought not to be sent to Wellington. The chairman, in passing the next item, said — " We are passing a motion to cease selliug our lands, and before long we shall have to sell them. What are we to do ? I say let any one sell that thinks proper." The motion was carried unanimously. There were 130 natives present. The chief, Mete Kingi, of Wanganui, made an excellent speech in favor of the Waitangi Treaty.
