(PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
Wellington, Last Night.
The Government received a telegram yesterday to the effect that Te Whiti'B speech, made at the usual monthly meeting at Parihaka, was of the most pacific nature. He spoke in a hopeful tone, and his utterances were marked by the avoidance of his usual boasting. He recommended that the settlement of the land question should be allowed to develop itself. He again spoke strongly against any idea of war, and said they should let everything in dispute be settled by the Government.
