CONSTITUTION.

Melbourne. Yesterday.
In the Legislative Assembly last night, the Bill introduced by Mr. Graham Berry for a reform of the Constitution was read a second time without a division. Mr. Murray Smith then moved that a conference of the two Houses should be held, to agree, if possible, to a compromise on the measnre. Mr. Berry objected to the proposal at the present time, and denounced it as unconstitutional and unprecedented. Sir John O'Shannessy, Mr. David Gaunson, and Mr. Wrixon ■ supported the motion, but the debate was finally adjourned to next sitting.
A caucus of the Opposition members was held yesterday, at which Messrs. Murray Smith and J. G. Francis were elected joint leaders of the Opposition party in the Legislative Assembly. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile
Agency Company have purchased a site in Collins-street West for extensive Warehouses, at a cost of j-27,000. A banquet was given to Mr. James Service prior to his departure for Europe. Five hundred persons were present, and the speeches delivered on the occasion were piinoipally retrospective in their character.
Adelaide, Yesterday.
Three hundred volunteers in this city have offered to proceed to the Transvaal for service against the Boers. Sydney, Yesterday.
The trial of the case of Robertson versus the Sydney Bulletin has been concluded, and resulted in a verdict for plaintiff for £1000 damages and costs. Intelligence from Teuaora states that a number of miners are leaving there for Mount Poole diggings, in the Grey ranges. The rush that has taken place is in no way justified, in the absence of definite information regarding the latter.

It is stated that there is no justification for the present rush to the Grey ranges, on the western border of this colony, as there is a total absence of trustworthy information concerning the prospects of the ground.
