animated, and in the result it was found that the closing rates of September had been generally maintained, while good scoured wools were rather dearer. Since the opening, a fair tendency has marked the progress of the auctions. Septeoiber prices continue to be the ruling standard of value, and the only exceptions are merino parcels in grease, low cross-breds, and lambs' wool, all of which are perceptibly cheaper. Good scoured sorts and fine cross-breds are supported at fully late rates to an occasional advance of id to Id per lb. Business in the manufacturing districts, however, is still the subject of complaint, and in view thereof purchases are limited to the actual wants of consumers. TO CORRESPONDENTS.
