SALE OF OPUNAKE.

The sale of the Opunake township commenced at 2 p.m. All the sections were sold, and some fetched handsome prices, Mr. J. Grosser, hobelkeeper, Hawera, having paid £81 for one section. Several members of the A.C. Force were in, and bid eagerly for some of the allotments. The harbor township of the Plains is evidently looked upon as a good spec, for whilst most of those who purchased sections at Manaia are likely to build there within the next year or two, it is probable that the money has been sunk at Opunake more in the nature of an investment. The sections averaged about a quarter of an acre each. Messrs. Middleton Bros., Emanuel Bayly, and T. Espagne, had protected improvements on section 3, block XXXII., section 7, block X.XKZL, aa<2 scctha i, h)<?cXr XXXTUX, respectively, to the value af j6l<j, £CA, and £200 ; but in each instance the section became the property of the present occupants. The following are the details :—: —
