HAWERA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Thursday, December 2nd.

(Before C. A. Wray, Esq., E.M. and Capfc Wilson, J.P.) BREACH 61? THE PEACE.

Carl Gungall and Thomas McCoy were charged with having committed a breach of the peace, by fighting in the streets at Normanby on Wednesday evening. Constable Pleasants deposed that he saw the defendant Gungall on the road outside of Brett and Jodnstou's hotel on. the evening in question. Defendant had his coat and vest off. On going inside, the hotel, he found McCoy, who appeared to have been fighting. They were both the worse for drink.

Mr. Johnston deposed that defendants were fighting in the street. He tri--d to separate them, but could not do so. Se then sent for the police.

Both defendants admitted the charge, and were each fined 5s and costs, or, in default, 24 hours' imprisonment.

McFarlane v. Burton. — This was a claim for £9 15s, for oats, and in which case hie Worship had reserved, iiia decision.

In giving judgment, the bench stated that it appeared the oats had been sold by an agent, for plaintiff, at so much per bushel, and not at so much per bag. Plaintiff had made a mistake in bringing the case into court. The case would be dismissed, with costs.

England v. Peters. — Claim Sor goods supplied. Verdict for amount claimed, with costs. Mr. Berry appeared to show causa why

John Waters! — For furiously driving -find ita)ful]j> endangering the lives of passengers. This case arose out of the late coach accident, at Manawapou, and was adjourned for a week. The case against Henry Bostoe, for failing to provide for the support of his children in the Auckland industrial school, >sas adjourned until next court day, to enable the police to make enquiries.
