Sire — Mr. Kettle's imported horse Sir 1 William Wallace. Sir William Wallace is a beautiful dark bay with black points, and was foaled January 7th, 1872. For symmetry, strength, and action, he stands unrivalled. He is perfectly quiet, docile, and tractable. No horse approaches him in quality and quantity of bone, muscle, and hair. He is a sure foal-getter, and his stock arejairning out first-class. He has taken .the Champion Prize in Wanganui tw£ ( ,years in succession, viz., in 1878 ancp.B79. TO STAND THIS SEASON IN THE Hawera and Manutahi Districts, The Pure-bred Clydesdale Stallion KNOCKDON, . A Bright Bay, rising four years, old, standing 16| hands high, with immense m«sc«?ar and splendid action. Knockdon is out of the celebrated mare Princess. Princess" by Emperor, out of the celebrated mare Kate, imported by the late Mr. James Strachan. Princess took first prize in Timaru in 1874, against eleven brood mares. Emperor gained three first and three "second prizes, being beaten only by his sire, Napoleon. Knockdon's sire was bred by James N. Fleming, Esq., of Knockdon, out of the renowned mare Sosie, \>y Prince Christian. Prince Christian was also bred by Mr. Fleming ; was by his horse Prince Consort, out of his prize mare Nell. Rosie was also bred by Mr. Fleming; her sire was bred by Major Findlay, of Eastern Hill, out of a Highland and Agricultural Society's prize-winner. Her dam, Old Rosie, gained first prize as a three-year old at vie Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Dumfries, and as a brood mare the following year at Kelso. Rosie gained many prizes in Scotland, amongst others, first, as a twoyear old at Ayr, 1867 ; first, as a threeyear old at Ayr, 1868; second, an a brood mare at Ayr and Maybole, 1869 ; and first as a brood mare at Ayr, in 1871 ; j same day winning sweepstakes for best bz-ood mare, open to Scotland. She was beaten at Ayr and Maybole, in 1869, by Mr. Fleming's mare Salt, but was placed before the same mare in 1871. As a brood mare, Rosie has not been surpassed. Her first foal, a filly, was four times first as a yearling, viz., at Ayr, Glasgow, Maybole, and Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Dumfries. In 1871, she was shown twelve times, and always gained the firste-place. These winnings included Glasgow, East Kilbride^ and Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Perth. In 1872, she was again first at Ayr. Her second foal, also a filly, gained second prize at Ayr, and first aft Glasgow, and Highland and Agri-. cultural Society's Show at Perth, as a yearling in 1871. In 1872, she was again first at Ayr and Glasgow. At present, she is* considered the best of her age in Scotland. Her next foal was Knockdon. He was foaled on the 26th May, 1871, and gained 1 the first prize at Ayr, and second at Glasgow, in 1872, and first at Timaru as -a three-year-old in 1873, and first again in 1875, against all comers. Knockdon took first prize in Timaru as a yearling ; first in Wanganui as a two-year-old; first in Wanganui as a three-year-old ; first in Waverley for all horses. Terms.— £4 10s. for single mares.
