Mr. Max, of Nelson, erased the Patea bar fully an hour before high water, and during lowest neap tides. The captain of the Amaranth took soundings when entering, and found nothing under two fathoms. Auckland, Friday night. Mr, Alfred Buckland reports -.—Store cattle were offered in average number. Fat cattle were in good supply at 355, for J/ ahip borne, to 27s 6d for provincial cattle. Store sheep in larger supply than usual. Good wethers, in wool, fetched 12s 6d to 14b. Fat sheep in short supply at 3d per lb. THE WOOL MARKET. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. received the following message from London this day (Sept. 26) : — "The wool market shows no material change. Sales have closed firm. Conifomg woofe sold about equal to -closing rates of last sates ; olothing, a shade below closing rates. Total number of bales -sold to date, 295,000 ; bought in, 22,000." MAILS CLOSE. HAWEBA.
