Pungarehtj, Tuesday.
No arrests have been made since the 59 -were taken on Saturday. The 24 boys then returned to Parihalca come back twice a day, accompanied by eight men. Their fencing material is very scanty, and is not even erected. They turn on the advance of the A.C.'s, and are quietly driven away — quite a change from the struggling of last week.
The Hon. Major Atkinson was in camp last night, and left this morning. The Hon. Native Minister goes" to Opunake to-day, and Hawera to-morrow.
Part of the Public. Works Contingent left for the Plains on Sunday, and the remainder yesterday. They are to form the road from Manaia to Normanby.
Te Pakaru, one of Volkner's murderers, was arrested at the fence on Saturday.
