Wool. — Buyers having sufficiently stocked themselves at the lost series of soles, there has been next to nothing doing in the trade during the past month. The for next series already amount to 283,000 boles, and the quantity afloat is reported as 30,000 bales. Prospects of future values may be said to be unaltered since the date of our last circular, but a large consumption of wool is reported to be going on both at Home and on the Continent. Tallow.—During past month inferior qualities have been in strong demand, and nearly all offered at the public sales has Tieen cleared; the better qualities are, however, but little improved in value, and the highest prices obtained at last week's Bale were 35s 6d for mutton, and 33s for beef. On the whole a rather steadier tone may be Baid to prevail in this trade, while tho Bt«clcin first hands is now reduced to •«bont "10,000 oaekg. Hides and Leather.—Tnere is a good trade demand still for both these articles; light hides are, perhaps, a little easier, but heavies ore firmer in value. Quotations now range from 4f d to 5Jd for best heavies, •and 4H to s^d for light ox and cow. Leather ia still selling at from lOd to ll£d per lb. Basils from Melbourne are quoted at from 9id to I7}d per lb; from New Zealand lOd to 13d per lb. Kauri Gum has fallen 10s per cwt, some stock having been imported here from New York. Sales were made at last auction at -from 32s to 67s for pickings soft to fair, 898 to 100 a for fine hard scraped, and 170s for selected transparent. Wheat.—After receding about 2s per quarter, the market has become stronger again, and the loss has been partly recovered. We therefore now quote Australian 49s 6d to 51a, and New Zealand 48s to 53s per 4961bs ex store. Cargoes of Australian off the coast are saleable at 50s. Australian flour is quoted at 36s to 37s according to quality. The weather has been wot and unsettled during all the four weeks, and there is no appearance of improvement to-day. Johnson and Allsup.
