HAWERA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Thursday, September 2. (Before C. A. Wray, Esq., R.M.) EMBEZZLEMENT.
The charge brought by Robert Dent and Henry Miller, against Edwerd Hawkins, for embezzlement, was dismissed. The Bench advised the defendant to pay all his lawful debts, and severely cautioned him against appearing in Court on a similar charge, as he might not get off so easily.
TRESPASSING ON THE FOOTPATHS.
J. Burton, G. Dyer, M. Power, F. Riddiford, and P. Tarrant, were charged with trespassing 1 on the footpaths ; but they ■were all dismissed -with a caution, as It was the first offence.
OBSCENE LANGUAGE.
Constable Crozier summoned William Marshall for using obscene language in a public place, and also with furious riding. On the first count, defendant was fined 20s. and costs, and on the second count ss. and costs, or in default seven days' imprisonment, with hard labor.
CIVIL CASES.
Jones v. C. Rosinsky. — Claim for .£8 lls., wages. Mr. Barleyman for plaintiff ; Mr. Parrington for defendant, who claimed a set-off for £5 19s. 3d. The evidence in the case appeared to be of a very contradictory character. Verdict for the balance, £2 lls. 9d.
Whittaker Bros. v. C. C. McDonald. — Claim for goods supplied. - No appearance of defendant. Verdict for amount claimed and costs.
A. Domingo v. Kate Summers.— Claim for £4 13s. Mr. Barleyman for plaintiff; Mr. Parrington for the defendant. Verdict for £2 ss.
