At the wool sale to-day, 9400 hales were offered, making a total of 72,400 catalogued since the opening. There was a good demand.
New Zealand wheat, ex ship, 445.
The cricket match, Australians versus Yeadon, was concluded to-day. The Home team in its second innings scored only 47.,. The Australians won the match in one innings, with 65 runs to spare. Boyle, in the second innings of the Yeadon team, took 8 wickets, and Alexander took 8 wickets.
Tenders for the City of Auckland Loau of at 6 per cent., were opened to-day. The total amount offered was £335,000, at an average of £110 ss.
Consols unchanged, at 97|.
New Zealand Government five per cent, loan, 104 i ; five per cent. 1889 loan, 104 ; four and a half per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 100.
v London,* August 26. The shipments of wheat from America are diminishing.
Hanlon, the Canadian rower, is expected to arrive in Englend on the 15th September to go into training for the race for the Championship with Tri<Jkett, the Australian rower.
It is contemplated to hold a grand naval demonstration of British ships off an English port shortly.
