Thursday, August 10. The Deceased Wife's Sister Marriage Bill was finally passed, on a division, by 32 to 23.

The Payment of Members Bill was shelved, oh a division, by 25 to 20. The Wellington Eacing Club Bill was stonewalled until the hour of adjournment. /

The Municipal Corporations Bill was amended and passed. The Law Practitioners Act Amendment Bill was read a second time.

Friday, August 13.

This morning, in the House of Representatives, the following Bills were carried through their final stages and passed : — New Zealand University Reserves, Canterbury Eivers Act Amendment, Dogs Eegistration, Pounds and Branding, High Schools Eeserves, Eabbit Nuisance, and Jackson's Bay Settlement Bills. In the House this afternoon, Mr. Wright, the member for Coleridge, resumed the debate on Mr. Pyke's amendment to go into Committee of Supply on the Eailway Commission Report. He strongly defended the Commission and its report, and regretted that the latter not been udopted by the Government in its entirety. He reviewed the several recommendations in detail, and urged that to make the railways pay it might be desirable to give the employers a commission on the earnings above 4 per cent. He spoke up to the time of the adjournment.
