THE HARBOR PETITION.

TO THE EDTTOH OF THE STAB.

Sib, — Since my last, I hear that Mr. M. Hunter gave Mr. Barleyman a cheque for .£lO on account of travelling expenses and retaining fees, and that he is to get three guineas a day whilst away ; also, that this has been paid in the name of the public of Hawera. I would ask Mr. Hunter to name his authority in this matter in using the public, name for this hole-in-the-corner business, and sending one of our legal gentlemen on such a Don Quixote errand ? — I am, &c., Citizen.

August 6.
