THE FIGHTING IN INDIA.

London, August 4.
The cricket match, Australians, versus Gloucester Eleven, was resumed to-day. The Gloucester team went in for their second innings, and were all disposed of for 97 runs. The Australians thus won the match by 68 runs. In the second innings of the home team, Spofforth took seven wickets.
The illness of Mr. Gladstone caused great excitement at Home and abroad. He still continues to improve, but it is feared he will be unable to attend the House of Commons for the remainder of the session.
London, August 5.
Sixty-three Liberal Peers voted with the majority on the Irish Tenant Compensation Bill in the House of Lords.

Madani Skobelofl, mother of the cele - br.vted liussian general, Michael Skobeloff, now in command of the Central Asia expedition, has be en murdered at Tchigi iv, a town in the district of Kief. The liv .- band of the deceased, as well as her son, is an officer of distinction in the Russian winy. The outrage is attributed to the system of terrorism adopted by the Nihilists. The principal assassin, having been recognised, was pursued, but he committed suicide to avoid arrest. The others engaged in the murder have been captured.
Constantinople, August 5.
The Turkish forces in the districts of Epirus and Thessally have been increased to the extent of 80,000 troops, in view of possible hostilities with Greece.
Calcutta, August 5.
Further details regar ding the attack on General Burrow's brigade by Ayoub Khan's force are to hand.
It is stated that twenty British officers and 400 British troops, together with 800 friendly natives, were killed and wounded.
