CARLYLE.
1-+ (from oub own correspondent.) Carlyle, Tuesday.
The p.s. Manawatu was expected here this morning, but did not arrive. It will fetch 25 of the unemployed from Wellington, to be employed on the railway works, and has probably put into Wanganui, from whence the men will be sent here by s.s. Clyde. It is difficult to understand why the expense of transhipment has been gone to, as everything was particularly favorable to the Manawatu entering the Patea river, there being little or no wind, and plenty of water. A football match will be played here next Saturday between the Hawera and Waverley clubs ; play to commence at half-past two. Au inquest was held at Kakaramea yesterday, on the bod}' of a man named Jas. Sanderson, who died suddenly on Sunday, while engaged at Mr. Mcßae's boilingdown establishment. A tumor, formed on the region of the heart, bursting sud-
denly, caused death.
