The Glenrowan Hotel.
The hotel was a wooden weatherboarded building, containing about six rooms, inclusive of the bar. Behind the mam building was the kitchen, the walls of which were constructed of slabs.
At this part of the building, the police kept up a rapid fire. When about sixty shots had been sent into the walls, the clear voice of Superintendent Hare couldbe distinguished above the scream? of the terrified women and children in the hotel, giving the order to " .-top firing." The Kellys then fired three cr four moie shots, after which one of the gang gave vent to some coarse and brut il language, calling to the police — " Come on you b wretches, and you ran fire away ; you can never' hurt us. ' A few straggling shots were then fired, and the attack again became general. Superintendent Hare re-appeared after getting his wound bandaged, but soon was compelled to leave the field, owing to the loss of
