WE, the undersigned residents of the Hawera District, request that you will call a PUBLIC MEETING, for the purpose of discussing the injustice under which the district labors, in consequence of 25 per cent, of its land fund having to go towards the construction of a harbor at New Plymouth ; and also for the purpose of urging on the Government to push on the sui*veys with all possible speed, so as to settle the confiscated lands ,with permanent residents.
