Wellington, Friday night. In the House of Representatives today it was stated that Mr. Jonas Woodward was acting as Public Trustee without salary. He had resigned office on the Ist of May. The San Francisco mail contract could not be terminated before 1883. Mr. Stewart's Evidence Amendment Bill was read a first time, and the Pharmacy Bill, introduced by Mr. Dick, was read a second time. The Hon. Major Atkinson stated that a new and. simple form of schedule under the Property Assess r ment Tax would be issued, and the time would be extended for sending them in. The debate is proceeding on the second} reading of the Elections Petitions Bill.
