Force.— The population of the different boroughs in the colony, • corrected up to the Ist January, 1830 (with the exception of Nelson, the returns from which were not sent in), were published in the New Zealand . Gazette of May 20. We are unable to make the distinction which you wish with 'regard to suburbs. The following are the returns within tbe various lxmragli boundaries : — Auckland, 15,022; Wellington, 21,582; Christchurch, 15.156; Dunedin, 23,959; Thames, 5314; Napier, 6G50; Wanganui, 4163; Nelson, GSO4; Sydenham, 7796; Lyttelton, 3653 ; Timarn, 3791 ; Oamaru, 5098 ; Hokitika, 26G8 ; Cavorsham, 3,786 ; Invercargill, 4283.
