GUN CLUB.

A meetiug of persons favorable to formiug a gun club was held at Owen's Egmont Hotel on Monday evening, there being over twenty gentlemen present. Mr. Pnrrington was voted to the chair, aud briefly explained the objects of the meetiug. Mi*. Kiddiford proposed and Mr. Southoy seconded, " That those present form themselves into a gun club, to be called the Hawera Gun Club." The resolution .was carried. Mr. Riddiford proposed, Mr. Lee seconded, and it was carried, " That Messrs. A. Owen, J. Cunningham, and H. R. Panington be appointed a committee to draw up a code of rules, to be submitted to a future meeting for approval. It was decided that the committee should call a meeting together as soon as the rules from the Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin Gun ' Clubs were obtained and revised. It was thought that birds might be easily obtained from either Nelson or Wellington.
