WHITTAKER BROTHERS, HAWEKA' HOUSE, AND AT LAMBTON QUAY, WELLINGTON. PROSPECTUS OF THE HAWERA & NORMANBY STAR, tynttn (ftountg (EhronitU, & TOinat* flatus (Sixgetti. 0 The Proprietors of the above Journal believe that there is a grand future before the residents of this most fertile tract of country, and have therefore determined to cast in their lot in the district. The publication has been started by a couple of independent journalists, whose only object is to float a first-class local newspaper, and one that will pay, in a district where they are convinced that a good opening exists. It has been freely asserted in some quarters that there is no room in the district for any more newspapers than are at present published. If this be trae, the new literary venture is prepared to take its chance with the rest in the struggle for the survival of the fittest. No doubt a fair field and no favour will be accorded to it. It is the earnest desire of the proprietors to merit a full share of the public support. They will only advocate that which they believe to be honest, truthful, gentlemanly in tone, and creditable both, to the writers and publishers ; they will endeavour to watch over the interests of the district and to press for a fair and impartial consideration of the claims of the locality, and they hope at all times to avoid the advocacy of the interests of any particular class as opposed to those of the general body of the public. It is proposed to devote special attention to the procuring of the latest telegraphic inteEigence, to the diffusion of all the agricultural news of the day, and" to the maintenance of a good correspondence with the seat of Government. The proprietors believe that they will be able to fully satisfy their supporters in these particulars. The Hawera and Noymanbt Star will be published on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The prices for advertisements have been definitely fixed, but at as low a rate as possible. The terms of subscription are moderate, and the annexed list shows that cash-payers will receive a fair concession for all payments made in advance. ; TERMS OF SUBSCRIPTION. Booked.
