Princess Margaret is to attend a young people’s ball to be held in Auckland on March 24.
Mesdames F. J. Whitcher and A. E Giblin represented the Hutt Valley Y.W.C.A. at the Y.W.C.A. Volunteer Conference at Palmerston North last week.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Odlin gave a “welcome home” party to the Mayor and Mayoress of Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. W. Appleton, at their home, “Camperdown,” Lower Hutt, last week. There were over 250 guests.
Mrs. Craig Mackenzie, a member of the State Literary Advisory Committee, read the prize-winning poems for the Donovan Cup and the Cottrell Cup at the annual party of the New Zealand Women Writers’ and Artists’ Society, held in Wellington on Thursday night.'
Misses M. D. Feist, J. .M. White and E. L. Lopdell were presented with lovely bouquets by pupils at the close of the music festival at the Hutt Intermediate School last week.
Mrs. S. H. Crump, of Lower Hutt, has been visiting her sister, Mrs..W, L. Burgess, of Wanganui. .
Mrs. Alfred Zavala (formerly Yvonne Vickery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Vickery, of Lower Hutt), returned recently to New Zealand after three years in California. She and her husband and their 22-months-old daughter will make their home in Wellington. Mrs. Floyd Ayres, another daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vickery, is visiting her parents.
