RUGBY LEAGUE
HUTT v. ST. GEORGE B Senior Reserve Playing in a sea of mud at Vogelmoi'ii, Hutt drew with St. George'B, 2-2 Play started in a downpour of rain and Hutt pressed hard into St. George territory and were unlucky on many occasions not to score, the ball sliding into the dead-ball area. Hutt were first to open the account in a penalty kick by Katene. Both teams, now used to the conditions, played really remarkable football in that their handling was as if it was a dry ball. St. George were trying to even the score before the interval but were repeatedly pushed back by the fast-breaking Hutt forwards.
On the resumption of play St. George attacked right from the kickoff, but Hutt soon had them back in their own territory, where speculators by both teams put the leather from one end of (lie field to (lie other. When St. George were up on Ihe Mutt line ;iii offside! gave them a shot at goal which was successful. With about 10 minutes to go,, play was just a mud scramble, both teams breaking even. Beferee: Mr. Williams. iifiinior Grade Hutt 8, Marist G.
