Seat Forfeited

FIRE BOARD MEMBERIt was stated at a meeting of the Lower Hutt Fire Board last week that the Government representative on the Board, Mr. O. S. Thomas, had not attended three meetings, and had not explained his absence. The Board's solicitor, Mr. N. T. Gillespie, on consulting the Act, gave it as his opinion that Mr. Thomas, by staying away from two consecutive meetings without explanation, had forfeited his seat. The secretary was instructed to notify the Minister of the position.
