Transit Housing

50 FAMILIES AT TRENTHAM

"""Fifty families are in the transit housing camp at Trentham, according to a report presented t,o the Lower Hutt City Council on Monday night by Councillor J. E. F. Vogel, chairman of the citizens’ advisory committee. By July 21 it is hoped that a further 13 families will be admitted. The committee has dealt with 24 8 cases.

An arrangement lias been made with the State Advances Corporation and the Metropolitan Committee whereby it is hoped this month to start clearing the camp. Owing to the very small number of houses coming forward it cannot be expected that any great number will be allotted houses for some appreciable time. Tt. is anticipated that the length of tenancy will average between 12 and 15 months in the camp.
