Free Ambulance

The' need of the provision of free ambulances in the Hutt Valley was stressed by Mr. P. Dowse at a meeting of the Wellington Free Ambulance Board. Mr. Dowse said that there are 50,000 people in the Valley, but no ambulances are stationed here.

Mr. W. H. Price, acting-chairman, said that the Board is fully aware of the needs of the Hutt Valley, but can do nothing until it is possible to obtain more vehicles. Arrangements have been made to take over the present Lower Hutt Fire Station as a free ambulance depot, but this can not be done till the brigade is in its new quarters at Waterloo. On the motion of Mr. Dowse it was decided to enlist the aid of the - members for the district — Messrs. W. Nash, H. Combs and P. Moohan—and local bodies in the Hutt Valley in pressing the need for more vehicles.
