DIFFICULTIES OF SERVICE

The anomaly in the charges for telephone calls between Lower Hutt and Wellington was again referred to at the last meeting of the Council of the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Regarding complaints of delay taken in making connections in Lower Hutt the postmaster suggested that some members of the Chamber visit the Telephone Exchange and see the difficulties under which the staff is working. Several operators often have to handle one call.

It Was decided to accept the postmasier’n invitation. It was stated that when the automatic exchange is fully equipped, ‘about the end of the year, there should be little cause for complaint.
