Aid To Britain

PARCELS PROM LOWER HUTT) LETTERS OF APPRECIATION That the parcels sent from Lower Hutt are much appreciated in Great Britain and are meeting a real need is proved by the many letters received by the Mayor from grateful recipients. Here are tome extracts from recent letters:

From London. —"I wish to thank you for your in sending me the food parcel. It "is such a great help in these days of rations, which you know are very strict, but we are hoping that things will improve very soon."

From Petts Wood, Kent. —"I wish to thank you and the citizens of Lower Hult for the food parcel which Ik greatly appreciated. Unfortunately we in this country have had to forego all the little luxuries which we had pre-war, but thanks to your good selves we have now been able to regain a taste of those old times in the parcels which you so generously send to this country." From Keighley, Yorkshire. —; "Please accept our thanks for the food parcels which arrived in good condition. We were very pleasied with the contents, all of which will be very useful and are certainly appreciated."

Ghangje from Usual Diet

From Dagenham, Essex. —"I have received, quite safely, a food parcel from New Zealand, and I am very grateful to you and the citizens of your town foor sending it to me. The extras, above our rations that the contents provide are extremely acceptable and make a change from our usual diet."

From Stonehenge, Surrey.—"l hasten to tender my grateful thanks for the very welcome food parcel sent by you and the citizens of Lower! Hutt. The contents were much appreciated and provided a-treat for myself and two children." From Barking, Essex.—"l would like to take this opportunity of thanking you and the citizens of your town for the delightful parcel which arrived (in perfect condition) a few days ago. Each and every item of the parcel was very much appreciated, both by myself and my parents, and the only thing I can say is 1 hope you get as much happiness out of sending the parcels asi we do when we receive them."

Pensioner's Thanks

From 'Camberwell, London. —"I wish to thank you very much for the parcel I received from you. It came in very useful to me as I am an old-age pensioner."

From Glasgow.—"l find it rather difficult to express the feelings I had on receipt of your surprise parcel the other day, sent with your best wishes. I consider, it a wonderful gesture on your part; indeed, the kindness and generosity of the New Zealand people is of great repute and beyond all praise, and many of us in this country have cause for great thankfulness to them and shall never forget as long as we live their wonderful kindness to us during these trying years we have lived through."

From Enfield Wash, Middlesex. — "I have just received a very nice parcel from you, thank you so very much, it really is greatly appreciated, as every article is so useful to us in this ration period, which we keep hoping will end soon. I was very thrilled when I received the parcel and very g-ratpful, so I do hope you will understand how much I am trying to say 'thank you' as food seems to be one's first thought."
