HUTT RANGERS v. DIAMOND'S

Rangers had no difficulty in accounting for Diamonds by 6 goals to 1 at Te Whiti Park. End-to-end play was a feature of the game, though often a Rangers movement was spoiled by the poor positional play of the forwards. Rangers took the offensive from the start, and after ton minutes’ play Dixon, right \Viiife, crossed for Lower Hutt to shoot that had the Diamond keeper beaten. Long passing kicks made Diamond dangerous, but poor positional play spoiled their chances.i Then Rangers’ centre-naif, C. Vine, with a nice run scored. Rangers 2, Diamonds 0. At this stage Rangers had complete charge of the game and the Diamond keeper made some great saves, and the score may have been more but for his outstanding game. From a free kick for hands T. Delany secured to score a nice goal. Shortly afterwards, from a pass from Hodgson, R. Trott netted to make the score Rangers 4, Diamonds 0 at the finish of the spell. In the second spell the game developed into a long kick and rush type of football. C. Vine scored and T. Delany scored with a header from a corner kick from the right wing. Diamond were dangerous with their long kicks, but the defence of Rangers was just too good for their forwaids and the game finished Hutt Rangers 6, Diamond 1.
