Hutt Valley Music Society Will Members of the Society and Intending Members please take note of the following meetings of the various Groups for the ensuing two weeks:— PIANO GROUP —A meeting of the Piano Group will take place at the home of the Convenor. Mr. Lionel Harris, 12 Puriri Street, Lower Hutt, on Friday, 25th April, at 7.45 p.m. A talk by Mrs. Janet Hector on ''Music in England during the War Years" will be an attractive feature of the programme arranged. VOCAL GROUP: The first Rehearsal of those who have joined and intend Joining this group will be held at the Small St. James Hall, "Woburn Road, Lower Hutt, on Tuesdaj*, 29th April, at 7.45 p.m., when further plans will be discussed and arrangements announced for holding auditions The Musical Director, Mr. Horace Hunt, states that reading ability is not necessary—all that is required is a reasonable voice and enthusiasm for singing. Those whjo have them are asked to bring copies of Mendelssohn's "Elijah* and Elgar's "King Olaf." A major work, to be performed for public performance, will be decided upon shortly but, in the meantime, some choruses from the above two works,, together with other numbers, will be put into rehearsal for a concert which it is proposed to hold as soon as practicable. INSTRUMENTAL ({ROUP: Instrumentalists interested in joining this group, especially wood-wind instrumentalists are invited to contact the Convenor, Mrs. "W. McLoughlin, Sherwood Street, Lower Hutt, at an early date.
