HUTT GAS SUPPLY
♦*• . PLANS FOR IMPROVEMENT
As a result of a conference held last week between representatives of Hutt "valley lmlustrios, the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Boar J. and Mr. W. Nash, Minister of Finance, an improvement has been made in the Hutt Valley gas supply, which has been the subject of strong complaints for months past.
Mr. Nash said that he had arranged for the gasworks to get 100 per cent. Liverpool coal during thrr.ext five month.?. He had also cabled Australia to speed up the delivery of the new plant that has been on order for eighteen months. A committee, with Mr. L. V. Phillips as convenor, was set up to report to the Government on the effect of gas rationing on industry and householders. GAS BOARD MEMBERS In accepting the resignation ol Mr. H. V. Horlor the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Board, at its last meeting, decided to write to Mr. Horlor thanking him for his eight years' service.
Mr. F. Lonsdale was appointed to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the board's term —one year.
