MAGISTRATE'S COURT
SITTING IN LOWER HTJTT At the last sitting of the Magistrate’s Court in Lower Hutt Clarence William Chalk, for damaging a motor-car, the property of James Cummings, to the extent of £3, was fined £1 and ordered to pay Cummings £3. John L. Healey, for having driven a motor-car without a license, had to pay £l/10/-. Charles D. Richardson, for driving a car across the railway at Melling when the line was not clear, was ordered to pay costs, 10/-. lan Henry Ferguson, for driving a motor vehicle at night without lights, was fined £l/10/-, and on a further charge of driving at excessive speed had to pay another £l, with costs 10/- in each case.
Bus Drivers Fined
Raymond G. Lessington, bus driver, for failing to give way to another vehicle when approaching the intersection of Randwick Road and Hutt Park Road, was ordered to pay Court costs, 13/-, and witnesses’ expenses, 12/5.
Ernest R. Cook, for driving a motor-bus in Andrews’ Avenue at such a speed that the vehicle could not be brought to a standstill within half the clear roadway ahead, was fined 10/-, with costs, 10/-. William G. Wilson, driver of a .motor-car, was fined £2, with costs 13/-, for having failed to give way to another vehicle. John Wood, for driving a car at night without sufficient lights, was fined 10/-, with costs 10/-. William L. Davjes, for allowing his chimney to be on fire, was fined £l, with costs 13/-. Charges against George Boyce, licensee of the Family Hotel, of permitting drunkenness on the hotel premises, and against Joseph 'L. Derby, barman, of aiding in the offence, were dismissed.
