OPENING MABBED BY BAIN The opening of the Hutt Valley Cricket Association’s season oil Saturday was marred by rain and ended harly. Sound batting performances were given by Capstick (62) for Petone United and Owen (55) for Taita. The best bowling performance was by Langham, wlio took three wickets for 10 against Taita for Hutt B. Petone United, in its match agaiimt Petone, lost two wickets for 114 runs. Taita, against Hutt B, lost seven Wickets for 119 funs. Hutt A, against Stop Out, had six wickets down for 111 runs. Hutt Valley's Status At a conference of minor associations in the Wellington Cricket Association’s area, held at Palmerston Nogin, it was decided not to support the Hutt Valley’s claim to minor association status, and to recommend that in the event of Hutt Valley’s request being granted a country team be selected from the present nine minor associations, and that a town team be selected from Hutt Valley and Wellington city players.
