The Rehabilitation Board has decided that New Zealand women who were members of the Air Transport Auxiliary which ferried planes across the Atlantic are eligible for all forms of rehabilitation assistance available to ex-servicewomen who have served overseas. The Minister of Rehabilitation, Mr. Skinner, commented that the Air Transport Auxiliary was a voluntary organisation that did exactly the same work as certain Air Force units. Members of voluntary ambulance units were already covered. There are four New Zealand ex-members of the Air Transport Auxiliary. A fifth was killed while on service.
