COMING CHURCH CONFERENCE
CHRISTIAN ORDER IN NEW. ZEALAND' I Described as probably the most important event in the spiritual history of New Zealand, a conference on Christian Order will be held in Cliristchurch at the end ,pf, August, Two hundred delegates will attend from all sections of the community, the conference being called by the recently formed National Council of Churches. Those attending will be representative of the eight churches co-operating in the Council. For almost a year, five commissions have been preparing reports on Christian Order, for submission to the conference, which will meet at Christ's College.; Rev. J. Lawson Robinson (Presbyterian) will be the chairman. The reports cover the relation of Christian Order to (1) New Zealand's place in the world community; (2) The treatment of the Maori people; (3) Education; H) The use of land, and the conduct of industry and commerce; and (5) The message of the Church for our day. The organisation of the conference has been undertaken by a committee under the direction of the Rev. W. H. Newell, secretary to the Council of Churches. Delegates express a preference as to which of the resports they; are most interestd in, and are allotted to one or other of the groups,, so that each report will be examined by about 40 people. It may thus be suitably amend ed before being passed to the full conference for adoption. After Adoption the full reports will be published as Conference findings. The conference extends from August 28/ th to 'September 4th, and may well mark a milestone of tremendous progress in the story of the J Christian Church in this land.
