HOSPITAL GROUNDS
At a meeting of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society executive committee last week, Mr. Wm. Toomath, a member of the Wellington Hospital Board, was received as a deputation to solicit the assistance of the society in stocking the extensive grounds which are to be laid out at the new Hutt Hospital. Mr. Tooath explained that it was desirable that these grounds should become one of the beauty spots of the City, not only for the benefit of the hospital patients, but for the thousands of friends who visited them, every week. In order to further this scheme, Mr. Toomath asked that the society should do what lay in its power to encourage its members and others to assist this deserving object by setting aside any surplus plants, bulbs, shrubs, etc., that can be spared, to beautify the hospital grounds. Plants and "cuttings of every description will be gratefully received and collected either by telephoning Mr. Toomath at his home in William Street (63941) or Mr. Purcell at the hospital (60-721). The president of the Society, Mr. N. B. Gibbons, expressed approval of the scheme and a small committee was set up to assist the effort.
