Sir.-—For about six weeks I have examined each morning a pint of milk delivered twenty-four hours previously. After carefully pouring off almost the whole contents of the jug, care to disturb the bottom portion as little as possible, each naming except on three occasions, a dirty coloured residue has been left i.i tin. jug. If one looks into the ju;r while pouring one can see the liirf dirt rising, as the milk leaves the lower part of the jug. 1 wish to make it quite clear that ■I do not consider the dairyman who delivers the milk in the zone in which I live to be responsible for the filthy milk delivered. From observation I know his premises and vessels are scruputously clean. I would strongly advise that no milk is used in Lower Hutt before bing boiled. Secondly, I consider the responsible authorities have a paramount duty to ensure that a clean milk supply is available. Summer is approaching and the risk to small children if fed with such milk should be apparent to all. —I am etc, EDITH P. TENNANT.
