The Hut News Wednesday, August 9, 1944 THE BITER BIT
A Hutt resident recently had the experience, not only of fnulthat during the night his daphne bush had been stolen from his garden, but that he was amply compensated for the loss of his property. Infuriated as the gentleman was at the loss of his sweetly perfumed bush he was somewhat soothed when he picked up, where the shrub had been, a wallet containing £8 in notes and a book of coupons. It is assumed that the night marauder inadvertently dropped the wallet from his pocket during the uprooting operations—a case of gross carelessness! Should this story come under the eye of the cleptomaniac it may relieve his anxiety to know where he can recover his wallet. In the mean time the finder of the wallet is asking his lefcall adviser whether he should return the -property to the address given on the coupon book or retain it as compensation for the loss of his sweetly scented daphne.
