Y.M.C.A.

On Friday evening last the Invitation Ceremony of the Hutt Valley Hi.Y. Club was held in the Petone Gymnasium. The invitation was con ducted, by Mr. H. S. Hills, president of the Association, Mr. W. Carey, vice-president, Mr. R. Bell chairman of the Youth Committee, and Mr. G. R. Pitkethley, general secretary, with Mr. D. J. Wiffin, Boys' Work Director, as guide. The purpose of the Hi.Y. Club is throughout the school and community high standards of Christian character. Its platform consists of four Iplanks— clean speech, clean sportsmanship, clean scholarship, and clean living—and the Aim of the Club is "Service." The club is open to secondary school boys who are members of the Y.M.C.A. Its monthly ritual meetings are held on the first Friday of each month. The officers at present are Mr. D. Wiffin, chairman; John Nicliolls, secretary, and the following are captains: Jim Fitzgerald, Keith Jacobson, Ted Clout, Brydone Baxter, Ross Hosie and Graham Clark. All .groups are at present 'busy practising for the half yearly displays to be held next month. A Leaders' Dedication Service will be held next Sunday afternoon, July 2nd., at 3 o'clock at the Petone Y.M.C.A. in conjunction with the bimonthly membership song service. The speaker will be Rev. Ashley Petch of Taranaki Street Methodist Church. All members and friends are given a cordial invitation to attend.
