W. E. A.
The usual weekly meeting, of the series of W.E.A. lecture and discussion, Lower Hutt group, was held on Friday evening last in Wesley Hall. The speaker was Mr Quentin Pope (who by the way does the War Notes in the "Evening Post"). The speaker dwelt on international affairs ami showed that we have been living in a state of armistice since World War No.. 1. He showed that each year in between Ihe two conflicts, wars went on and in 110 year was there absolute peace, lie showed that tlu i loans granted to continental powers enabled them to build up networks of railways, deprive us of markets, how inventions played their part, that in, inventions the United Kingdom and Empire was 1 always a jump ahead of all else. This was a most interesting and informative meeting. A lot of questions were asked and an interesting discussion followed. It is a wonder more people do not attend these classes, the Wesley School Hall is always filled, but considering the value of each evening we should fill a hall ten times as large. The speaker will explain this and that in current affairs, and it is a night of news behind the news. One and all go away with a refreshed mind and are able to read the i.ews with added interest. You are invited to attend these W.E.A. meetings held each Friday night during the winter months, in Wesley Hall, Lower Hutt.
